About our Club......

The Friendly Garden Club of Beverly works on civic projects in the City of Beverly throughout the year and holds many events and fundraisers. Below is a list of projects and events held during the year:

CIVIC CONCERNS: On-Going Projects

Our Club continues to plant and maintain the Chris Landman Memorial Garden at the Beverly Public Library as well as all of the gardens at the library and Beverly City Hall. We also maintain the public access way garden at Abbott Street overlooking Beverly Harbor and the traffic island at Dane and Cabot Streets. We provide flowers for the Beverly Public Library once a week.

Our Club awards two $500 scholarships (for a total of $1,000) to local students pursuing a career in environmental science or related field.

Each Christmas, our Club designs and donates wreaths, swags, etc. for the Library and historic homes in our city. During the holiday season, we also decorate the gazebo on the Beverly Common. (Full club participation on a revolving basis.)

WAYS AND MEANS

The Club raises funds for its community service projects with its annual Plant Sale, Open Meetings, and other Fundraisers.

HOLIDAY DECORATING

The Club decorates for the holidays around town and conducts a greens workshop each year; members will create wonderful wreaths, swags and Christmas baskets for historic homes and public buildings in our city and for our very successful Holiday Boutique (check out the Special Events page for more information).

PLANT SALE

A Perennial Plant Sale is held each June with perennials donated from members’ gardens (check out the Special Events page for more information).

HORTICULTURE/DESIGN

Members are encouraged to participate by bringing horticulture specimens or design projects to designated meetings.

GUEST NIGHT

The club sponsors educational and entertaining speakers at least five times a year, which are open to the general public and guests of club members for a minimal fee of $2.
